Kapalua Open Tennis Tournament September 1-4, 2006. 2006 Maui Writers Conference September 1st - 4th, 2006 on Labor Day Weekend. The Maui Writers Conference offers something for every writer. Maui Chefs Present… Rock and Roll Wok of Fame Friday, September 1, 2006 from 6:15 pm to 10:00 pm at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort. It's the 14th annual food-lovers themed dinner and cocktail party under the stars. West Maui's top chefs will present their culinary hits at Hyatt Regency Maui Resort in Ka'anapali. A Taste of Lahaina & The Best of Island Music Friday & Saturday, September 8 and 9, 2006 from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Lahaina Recreation Park II behind the soccer field. Maui’s largest culinary festival celebrates 15 years. The event showcases new and popular restaurants in Maui County offering “tastes” of signature dishes. Features include a beer and wine garden, country store, kids’ fun area, 25 restaurant tents and continuous live entertainment on stage with Hawaii’s current and legendary musicians. Maui Marathon, Maui Half Marathon, Maui Tacos 5K September 17, 2006 at 5:30 am, sponsored by The Westin Maui, begins at the Queen Kaahumanu Center in Kahului and ends near the Whalers Village within the Kaanapali Resort. The Maui Marathon course is simply one of the most scenic marathon courses in the world. Over 17 miles or 65% of the Maui Marathon is oceanfront running. 84th Maui County Fair September 28 – October 1, 2006 at 211 Kanaloa Avenue, Wailuku (the War Memorial Gymnasium parking lot).
