Great Maui Whale Festival
November 30, 2006 - May 15, 2007
sponsored by the Maui County Department of Economic Opportunity and the Hawaii Tourism Authority. Celebrate the whales on Maui with an exciting array of activities and events to honor the presence of the humpback whales in Maui's waters, including a parade, fun run, a day-long festival featuring live music and entertainment, lectures and talks, special celebratory whalewatches, and much more! Haleakala National Park
Daily activities
. Summit Area. Short interpretive talks are given daily - stop by a visitor center to find out about the day's offerings. Guided hikes are available regularly - please contact us for details on upcoming hikes. Call 808 572-4400, then press 1, for information on upcoming programs, cancellations and closures. Kipahulu Area: Daily orientation talks are given everyday at the Visitor Center. Stop by for details on upcoming programs.

Kipahulu Cultural Hike and Taro Patch Tour
First Tuesday of every month
. Join a Native Hawaiian guide from the Kipahulu 'Ohana on a hike through time in the Kipahulu area of Haleakala National Park, visiting sites representing several eras of history, arriving at the inspiring beauty of Kapahu Living Farm, where traditional lo'i (taro patches) have been restored to active production with taro and other Polynesian introduced plants. Kapahu Farm is located in the Kipahulu area of Haleakala National Park. Follow Hwy 36 from Hana towards Kaupo. Allow a 3-4 hour one-way drive from Wailea or Ka‘anapali areas. Kipahulu 'Ohana is a nonprofit organization, and donations are gratefully accepted to help perpetuate the environmental and cultural programs the 'Ohana offers in Haleakala National Park. Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Concert Series

Maui Film Festival presents … (weekly movie title TBA)
Wednesday’s
at 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm, Castle Theater venue at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. The Maui Film festival presents acclaimed films – “entertainment that enlightens” – on the Big Screen in the Castle Theater. A mid-week Maui favorite activity with good films, good friends, good vibes. Light dinners, desserts & beverages available at Candlelight Café 4:30 - 7:30 pm, Founders Courtyard. Maui Polo Club – Outdoor Season
Every Sunday
at 1 pm, Olinda Polo Field. The Maui Polo Club has been a Maui institution for over one hundred years. Founded as an informal excuse to get together and have fun honing their skills by Maui's paniolos (cowboys) in the 1800s, the Maui Polo Club has grown to be one of the most respected polo clubs in the Pacific Basin. And you're invited! Come see us play every Sunday from now till then, and bring the whole family. Polo is a very exciting, thrilling game to play and watch, and everyone loves the horses! And after each game we have a party, with food music and fun for all - what a great way to spend an Upcountry afternoon! The games start at 1:00 pm, and the gates open at 12 noon. Maui Raceway Park Drag Races
Come out and support your local drag strip! Located just off of Mokulele Hwy (Hwy 311) between Kahului and Kihei—look for the signs. Friday: Gates open at 3:30 pm and racing begins at 5:30 pm. Saturday: Gates open at 1:00 pm and racing begins at 2:00 pm. Maui Raceway Park is operated by the Valley Isle Timing Association, a non-profit organization for promoting drag racing on Maui. All races are Fridays and Saturday nights (see schedule below). For more information, call 808-281-1273.

Maui Whale Center
Free admission. Features displays about Hawaii's humpback whales, along with a living tidepool display and movies about Hawaii's ocean environment. Tidepool Talks take place at 1:30 and 2:30; the center is open from Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., located at The Harbor Shops at Maalaea (next to the Maui Ocean Center) on Route 30. This is an educational project sponsored by the Pacific Whale Foundation. For information, call 808-249-8811.

Movie Under the Stars (also called Movie at the Park)
July – December 2006 on the 4th Friday of each month. Located at the Hana Ball Park located next to the Hana Community Center. Hotel Hana presents a free movie under the stars located at the Hana Ball Park next to the Hana Community Center. There are food booths, popcorn, pan-fried bread & hot cocoa that will be sold for a fundraiser, including a complete dinner for $6. In case of rain the movie will be shown at Helene Hall. Onsite Coral Reef Information Station
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays —Free Admission
at the Pacific Whale Foundation's free Coral Reef Information Station. Learn the names of the fish you've seen while snorkeling with the help of a knowledgeable Pacific Whale Foundation naturalist. Available on select dates at Ulua Beach in Wailea from 8 am -- noon. Sponsored by the Hawaii Tourism Authority and County of Maui Office of Economic Development. Picnic with Poki, Life Entertainment
Every third Thursday
from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Historic Kaahumanu Church located on High Street, Wailuku. Come and enjoy live Hawaiian entertainment under the monkey pod tree at the Kaahumanu Church. KNUI AM900's Uncle Poki and Kopa`a Tita will be the hosts. Bring your lunch with you. Shimmy Nights at Café Marc Aurel
2nd and 4th Saturday of each month
, 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm shows, no cover charge. Directed by Beka Merrifield, BellyRoll Dance Company has been performing on Maui since August of 2004. The troupe performs primarily American Tribal and Tribal Fusion styles of bellydance. Local dancers and visiting dancers can perform at an upcoming Shimmy Nights (see phone number below). Sunset Cliff Diving Ceremony off of Puu Kekaa
Every night
at sunset a young man dressed in traditional Hawaiian attire dives from Puu Kekaa (“Black Rock”) into the Pacific Ocean. Sponsored by the Sheraton Maui Resort, Kaanapali (West Maui). For more information, call (808) 661-0031.

Sunset Hula Show
Nightly show – Free admission and open to the public
. From 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel in West Maui. This 20 year tradition invites you to enjoy Maui's romantic sunsets and dancing under the stars every evening with Rudy Aquino and interactive band "Lanui". Entertainment and music begins at 6:00 pm. The Maui Whale Center
May 15 – November 30
featuring FREE admission and FREE film showings! Maui Whale Center Presents: Dolphins, Year-Round Whales, Turtles and Reefs. Features displays about Hawaii’s wild spinner, spotted and bottlenose dolphins, plus species of toothed whales found here year-round, along with information about sea turtles and coral reefs. There’s a living tide pool display, too! Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at The Harbor Shops at Ma'alaea (next to Maui Ocean Center). For information call 808-249-8811.

Tour of the Stars
Every night
three viewings are offered, each lasting one hour (8:00 pm, 9:00 pm or 10:00 pm), and is sponsored by the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa, Kaanapali (West Maui). This exciting telescope viewing of the stars and planets is given on the top of the roof. 15 people maximum per group is allowed, and the cost is $25/person for outside guests (i.e., viewers not staying at the Hyatt Regency). Whale Information Station at McGregor Point Lookout
November 30, 2006 - May 15, 2007.
Daily, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. At the scenic overlook that is considered Maui's top shoreline whale watching location, you'll find a free Whale Information Station staffed by Pacific Whale Foundation's friendly and knowledgeable naturalists. Get expert tips on locating whales and current information on the most recent whale activity. You can check out the whale artifacts on display, pick up free color guides to watching Hawaii's whales and get expert answers to all of the questions you have about whales. A free public information service by Pacific Whale Foundation. McGregor Point lookout is located on Route 30, the Honoapiilani Highway, between Maalaea and Lahaina.
