Scuba Dive Maui 2

This Scuba Dive Maui 2 page is about our second dive of the morning on December 28, 2006 with Extended Horizons. Find out about our first dive of the morning at the Carthaginian shipwreck here. You should know that this is not a paid endorsement of Extended Horizons, just my personal assessment.

Special thanks goes out to Maren Springer, one of our dive instructors, who graciously allowed us to share with you each of the photographs you see on this page. We also thank our dive instructor Victoria Martocci for sharing the photo of the turtle on the anchor line.

Our second dive occurred at Olowalu Reef, located about 5 miles south of Lahaina and 1/4 mile offshore in West Maui. The depth of this dive varied between 10 and 35 feet.

extended horizons II boat
Extended Horizons II is the name of boat we took to Olowalu Reef with Captain Dave at the wheel.

sea turtle, olowalu reef
Olowalu Reef is famous for its beautiful coral and wide variety of sea life, including the sea turtle. You may know that Hawaii state law prohibits you from chasing, scaring, or otherwise bothering them (this is their home; we are just visiting it), but if they decide to come and swim around you, that's different (still shouldn't touch them).

This is another photo of a sea turtle. It was amazing to be so near these beautiful animals!

This sea turtle is hanging on the anchor line as it gently sways up and down. This particular photo was taken by Victoria Martocci, our dive instructor.

white mouth moray eel, Ololawu Reef, Maui
This beautiful white mouth moray eel was sticking its head out of its reef home. You probably don't want to even think of messing with this three to four foot long animal...

Those teeth are sharp, so I moved along and kept a safe distance.

This is a small, spiny sea urchin "sitting" on the reef.

Maren took this photo of me near the end of our dive.

Our group shot was taken at the end of our Olowalu Reef dive that morning with Extended Horizons.

As you can see, we certainly had a lot of fun on our Scuba Dive Maui 2 or second dive of the morning with the expert help of our instructors, Victoria and Maren.

And I think it's safe to say that we'll be looking forward to the next Scuba Dive Maui excursion on our next trip to Maui.
